Sandy's Life
My Rants, My Raves, My Thoughts...
Recent Entries
Last week, I gave my two week notice to Kohl's...so the 25th will be my last day picking up after slobs who can't bother to hang up the stuff they have tried on.  My last day of dealing with rude customers.  My last day of sore feet.  Well, you get the point...my LAST day in Retail!

Back in March, I had applied for a hospital admissions position at a local hospital.  I filled out the application online and pretty much forgot all about it when no phone call came in.  So, right before Memorial Day they called and wanted me to interview for the position.  I went in Wednesday after the big weekend, and that interview lasted for well over an hour!  I haven't had an interview like that in over 20 years and felt like I totally tanked.  A week passed and I hadn't heard a word (I did follow up and thanked them for interviewing me, etc.).  The following Thursday, the two people that I had listed as a reference called me and said "Guess who I just talked to!!!".  It was the hospital.....checking my references.  I thought to myself "That has to be a good sign right?".  They wouldn't check someone's references if they weren't even interested in them.

1 week passes, and I hear nothing.  Then on Thursday, while at work at Kohl's I got the call!  "Hi Sandy, we'd like to offer you the admissions position, are you still interested and available?".  My reply   "OH YEA!!!!!!!"  lol!  Right after I hung up, I came back in from lunch, and the first thing I did was give my notice to the manager...lol!!

It really is nice knowing that my day's at Kohl's are coming to an end.  Sad, I know.....but that job was turning me into a mean person...lol!!

So, I'll be back doing somewhat the job I did "pre-kids" and making just over $6 more than at Kohl's!  The first 90 days of training will be 40 hours per week.  Then after that, it's up to me.  It's a per diem position, which means I let them know the days I'm available to work.  How awesome is that!  I'll probably be available more days than not, but it's nice to know that if we go to the river or Glamis, I just have to let them know the dates that I'm unavailable!

I can't wait to get started!
22nd-Jan-2008 08:05 am - Update time once again!
I think it's time for an update since I haven't really done one here yet.  The beginning of December, I got a hair up my ass and decided to get a part time seasonal job.  I was hired by Kohl's and within a few days of the interview, there I was...working the misses department and being a cashier.  I went in for Part Time work, however, with it being *seasonal*...part time was around 37 hours a week!  I was busting my ass and felt like I was constantly at Kohls (sometimes until 2:30 in the morning!).  For the first week, I swear...every step I took thru that store, my mind was saying "I'm so DONE, I'm SOOOOOO Done!!!"...but I stuck it out....sore back, sore feet and all.  It's now actually fun...lol!

I'm still at Kohl's!  They have let go quite a few other seasonal employees, however, I guess they liked my work and are keeping me longer than seasonal.  I figured that if I can survive working retail thru the Christmas Rush, the rest should be a piece of cake...lol!

I've learned that lots of people are SLOBS!  hahahaha!  I really would hate to see where they live or their bedrooms if that's how they are out in public.  But, I think people have the attitude "Well, SHE can pick it all up, turn it right side out, hang it up and put it away...that's HER job".  Which it is, but sheeesh! (At that time I worked Misses and back up cashier.  I'm now in the Mens Dept. and back up cashier...men are slobs too, just not as bad (believe it or not) then the women!)

I've learned that looks CAN NOT kill me!  I swear, some of these people feel it's their right to NOT have to wait in line.  Where have you shopped, the week before Christmas, and NOT had a line?  (besides a car dealership....lol!).  They gave me the evil glare quite often even though they see that we are taking customers as quickly as possible.

Things have slowed down a bit, but with all the sales going on (anywhere from 60-90% off), it's still very busy.  Heck, while putting clothes away, I decided to NOT put away an $18 and a $12 dollar shirt because they were only $1.80 and $1.20 after they marked them down (now add the employee discount...I got two shirts for just over $2 bucks...rofl!)

Anyway, I like my hours now, I work around 15-20 hours per week (which is what I was initially looking for).  Sometimes up to 25, which is still okay).  Just enough to get out of the house a bit, and just enough to make a bit of extra money.

29th-Oct-2007 01:05 pm - McDonald's Monopoly Game!
Okay, so here's my theory on this Monopoly game that McDonald's has: They produce and send out game pieces to each state, and the 1 that is needed to win...is sent to some state 3000 miles away, so that I don't have a chance of getting it. So, I'm going to list what I need, and list my doubles in hopes that between what I have, and what YOU have, maybe we'll win something...lol!

1st-Oct-2007 10:26 am - Maybe I am Nuts!??!
I'm sure you all think I'm nuts, doing GPT sites, Survey sites and what not to make a few bucks...lol! But heck, why not right? If it's out there on this World Wide Web for me to grab...I guess I'll grab it.

I got addicted to MySpace a few months ago, until Yuwie came along. Yuwie is just like MySpace, except Yuwie shares the revenue profits with it's users (Where MySpace keeps the profits themselves). If you click on my Yuwie profile, you won't see much difference at all between that and MySpace. Both have comments, friends, blogs, pictures. Here are the two:

My MySpace Profile

Pretty much identical. I got really tired of always getting my password phished on MySpace and I've changed passwords there about a gazillion times...ugh! I haven't been to MySpace in a while, but I have been seen on Yuwie pretty much daily! My newest addiction you can say...lol! But, at least at Yuwie I make a bit of money in the process. Yuwie pays by page views. All this below is what Yuwie counts as a page view:

When anyone views any of these pages, it counts as 1 page view for you:
  1. your profile page
  2. your blog pages
  3. view all your friends
  4. view all your comments
  5. your picture pages
  6. if someone views one of your shared layouts
When you view any of these pages, it counts as 1 page view.
  1. any of your control panel pages, including but not limited to: settings, messaging, friends, referrals, favorites, etc.

Then, at the end of the month, Yuwie figures out what their RSR for the month was, and you get a percentage of that, based on your total of page views. Level 1-3 is 10%, Level 4-7 is 4%, Level 8-9 is 10% and Level 10 is 30%.

Anyway, just thought I'd drop this in here....to prove to you that YES, maybe I am nuts...lol! If you want to make the switch to Yuwie (or do both Myspace and Yuwie)...just follow the banner link below. (Yea, it's a referral link that you will use too if you want to share the word about Yuwie)

28th-Aug-2007 02:14 pm - It's Official!!
I've registered my own domain and I built myself a website! Check it out:

Be sure to sign my guestbook if you do :)
21st-Aug-2007 10:22 am - I'm Due...
Actually, I'm probably more WAY OVER due on a post here! Here's what's keeping me busy these days:

  • Yuwie: It's pretty much just like myspace, however, you can make a few bucks while being addicted...lol! It's more of a revenue share program...you make a percentage of what they make. Here's my page if you want to check it out, and here's a join link of you dare to venture into the land of online addiction...lol!
We're heading out for Labor Day anyway, probably our last jaunt to the river.  My son started his job finally at Radio Shack.  I got an email from the Permit people, showing me the "touch screen" permit machine and the picture of mine that they are using.  I'm going to wait a few days before I upload it.  I'm not sure if I can pass it around because the email had this "confidentiality" paragraph in it.  Who knows...but I will brag about it...lol!  School starts next Tuesday, and I have to get him registered today....so I'd better end this now so I can start filling out the endless papers they sent me...ugh!
6th-Aug-2007 09:59 am - Flickr Rocks
Last week, I got an email from The Imperial Sand Dunes Permit Department (Glamis), and thought it may have something to do with a parking permit ticket we got...that I paid for by the way. I was wrong...thank goodness!

They sent me an email stating that they wanted permission to use a picture of a sand rail from my flickr account that I took for their season permits this year! I was hoping it would be a picture of someone we knew, but the one that they wanted to use was the GSS car jumping. I replied and told them that it would be WAY COOL by me to have a picture that I took on everybody's season permit! How cool is that!!

So, Friday I get an email from them again, saying that they have decided to use a picture I took for this years permits! And, as a note of appreciation...they want to send me 2 FREE season permits! (They cost $90 each for a season permit to camp there). Soooo, a picture that I took will be hanging in everyones rear view mirror!!!  (My picture will be used on the kiosk permits...the one's that come out of their new machines.)

Other than that exciting news...it's the same shit, just a different day...lol!  Still working on the MIL's place, however, there is a light at the end of the tunnel that we can see!  All the painting is done, carpet installed, furniture in...we're just waiting on a custom bathroom vanity for the guest bath (it's an odd size, and not you're standard size unfortunately).

I'm getting a big check from Treasure Trooper...biggest one yet..... $ 259.99 !  It's big because $100 of that was from the Treasure Hunt that I completed.

My oldest finally got his first job!  He'll be working for Radio Shack....Hey, it's a start...lol!  He's just waiting on the results from the drug testing (which he says he'll pass with flying colors).  Then we/he needs to get his butt down to ITT Tech to get the ball rolling for his schooling!
11th-Jul-2007 10:49 am - July 4th Trip
Well, as expected...it was HOT! We left here at 2am to try to beat the heat while driving. ThatRiver Trip July 4th, 2007 worked, we got there around 7am, checked into our campsites around 8am and then the heat started kicking in. It reached 122 degrees on Wednesday, 121 degrees on Thursday...then it seemed to *cool off* to the mid 110's. It's amazing how *cool* 116 feels compared to the 120's the days before! What was really wierd was, the evenings cooled down to the mid 90's and it felt great! Where back home here, we would have been dying...lol!

The first day was a mess because I didn't really get any sleep before we left...so I was going all day on no sleep, plus the heat. I was in bed by 9pm! I'm surprised I made it that long! We didn't even launch the boat the first day because we were so tired, we just hung out at the beach area. The rest of the days were nice, we would take rides on the boat and just enjoy the cool water. Evenings we hung out at the campsites, making margarita's and concockting (sp?) wacko mixed drinks...lol! There was a bit of tension in the air though, which made for some uncomfortable moments. The family we use to own our boat with (remember...the LATE RISERS...lol!)...were there with a boat they just picked up before the trip. We are early risers, and like to head out on the waters at least before noon. Well, this family never even showed up before 1pm...so our trips always had a delayed start. We would just sit around waiting for them (out of courtesy) and get frustrated. Finally, the last day we said we're heading out at NOON! They still hadn't shown up, so we left and told them where we would be headed. I just think that's the rudest thing to make people wait on you. They had this "primadonna" attitude that drove us all nuts. We were glad to be heading home early Sunday morning!

I uploaded the pics from the trip, if you'd like to see them, just CLICK HERE
I still have to organize them, but there are 5 pages worth!

ENJOY!
11th-Jul-2007 09:28 am - How Cool is this!
